12/18/2011 - Old Hickory LakeOk guys, My wife and I decided to head to Old Hickory Lake yesterday. We arrived at 11:45am and began to fish transition banks. Water temp was 50.5 when we arrived. It took us a little while to find them. They were on transition banks that had more vertical cover on them. We had 10 bass, 20 white bass, and a couple blue gill! We ended the day with a 3 keeping bass, biggest one being 3 pounds. The cold front from Friday just had the big ones shut down. We caught fish on crank baits, jerk baits, and jigging spoons. Most of the fish came on jigging spoon, including the white bass. My wife has knee surgery the 23 and want be out for awhile, but we were lucky to have another great day on the water! She had a blast, as did I. We ended the day at 4pm and water temp was 51.7. Make sure you where warm clothes, bring plenty of gloves, and keep life jackets on. Good luck to all! Decided to go to the lake yesterday for a couple hours. Arrived at 11am but did not start fishing till noon, due to motor problems. After resolving motor issues, my day turned into a great December day! Air temperature was 63 degrees, and water temperature was 51 degrees when I arrived. I started out fishing transition banks. It did not take long to start catching them. Caught my first bass on the third cast. A solid keeper. I caught fish just about anyway I wanted. I caught some on crank baits, jerk baits, jigs, and worms. I ended the day around 3PM. Caught 10 bass, 5 keepers with the biggest being 4 and half to 5 pounds. Had a couple over 3, a 2 and half, and one about 2 pounds. Did not have a fish after 2pm, but had wore the spot out pretty good. The key to success was to find the shad. Find the shad, you find the fish! Good luck to all! Mike Davis Outdoors Fishing Guide, William Hunter

Bass pretty good today. Caught 11 during the early afternoon hours. The wind driving bait fish into shallow areas All fish were caught on crank baits and spinner baits ranging from 1 to 8 foot of water. Water temperatures in the upper 50s with some areas in the low 60s.
11/17/2011 - Old Hickory Lake
Bass fishing is starting to slow down a little right now. Some fish are still in the backs of creeks, but found most have moved to transition banks. Try throwing rattle traps at bass feeding on schooling shad in the banks of the creeks. We caught some of the bigger fish on a spinnerbiat, like a secret weapon spinnerbait. The key is to find banks with rip rap, and then find wood on those banks. Try to hit and bounce off of the wood, at different angles. The fish we caught off the transition banks, were between 8 to 12 feet. Jerkbaits and jigs were our baits of choice when fishing these banks. Just keep in mind that fishing is slowing down, but the chances of catching a big trophy bass is at its best right now.
11/13/2011 - Old Hickory Lake
Tough fishing with the high winds. Found areas not a choppy and caught over 30 bass. All fish we caught on topwater, crankbaits and swimbaits.

Water temperatures have dropped some 18 degrees. 72-70 in creeks and river channel. Fish are on the flats very tight to logs and brush. The bite is very short. In the back of creeks, bass are holding tight to logs and chuck rocks but are shallow and chasing shad. One other thing to keep in mind, FULL MOON is upon us. So they will feed at night and become tight lipped during the day.
08/25/2011 - Old Hickory Lake

Prefishing continuing to find fish holding close to cover. Water temps in the 90s in the creeks and 80s in the river. Large soft plastics, jigs and crankbaits are good choices right now.
07/17/2011 - Old Hickory Lake

Fished with some kids from the TN Baptist Children Home for a day on the water. We caught numerous bluegill and catfish from one foot to 8 foot of water. Windy and cloudy conditions prevailed.

Bass are being caught on top water in the morning, then off shallow to deep points very close to structure. Soft plastics are key.
07/07/11 - Old Hickory Lake
Thunderstorms around the area earlier. Water temperatures in the mid 80s. Lake is clearing up but down two feet. Bass are moving to points and ledges but can be found around the grass and bluffs. Stripped bass are also hanging around points. Catfish are beginning their spawn so can be caught on pretty much anything. Spinner baits, crankbaits, soft plastics are a good choice in catching the largemouth.
07-05-2011 - Old Hickory Lake
Had a few thunderstorms around. Water temperatures were in the low to mid 80s. Bass and stripers were hitting deep diving crankbaits and creature baits.

Today I went out fishing with Brandon Kemp on Old Hickory Lake for a couple of hours in the morning. We caught several bass, three crappie, and had one break off! Fish were holding tight to cover and submerged brush. We used an assortment of crankbaits and plastics to boat fish. Water temp averaged around 74 degrees and was stained. Thanks Brandon for a great time and hope we can do it again someday!

Hey Mike, Just wanted to thank you for the fun on the water. Thanks for taking the time to teach me to use a bait caster. I do not get much time to fish, so that was very relaxing. The company was great!
We will have to do it again.
Thanks Maria

Just wanted to drop a note to let you know how much we enjoyed the trip with you. The weather was not the most cooperative, wind was blowing pretty good, but you kept us in good positions to fish and was most enjoyable to fish with. We will enjoy fishing with you again as the opportunity presents. Thanks for a great evening on the water.

I just wanted to write and thank you for the joy that you gave my husband and grandson. Bernard and Jordan had the time of their lives. I cannot tell you how much it means to me and my daughter for Jordan to have this memory with his grandfather for the rest of his life. To this day, Jordan tells “granddaddy that he should have used the net to catch the “big” one that got away. He has bragged daily about how he can cast and catch fish. Thank you again.

This was Tricia and my trip with this guy last weekend. It was way too much fun. Great guide, no pressure even when we bird-nested some of the fishing reels. I finally got the hang of using a bait casting reel for the first time. When Tricia couldn't quite get it right, he made every cast for her. He'd put the lure in the most promising places then gave her the rod to work the bait. Like we said, it was just really nice to be out. Masses of water birds, King Fishers, Egrets (I think) and of course ducks and geese. We even saw a baby duck this late in the year. Anyway, just wanted to share with all of you.

Hello Mike.
I just wanted to say thank you again for a great day of fishing! I had a great time. You taught me how to fish in different ways and you were extremely patient. Thanks again for taking the extra time with us today. I had no idea how much this type of service really cost. You gave us a great deal and it was a great blessing. I am currently trying to start my own business and finances are pretty tight, but my wife found your coupon and it made it affordable for us. You went way beyond the call of duty today and I wanted to say thank you. I would love to take my son or my dad out on a trip someday with you. I will send you some pictures soon.
Blessings, Phil LeBeau
